ImNDT: Immersive Workspace for the Analysis of Multidimensional Material Data From Non-Destructive Testing

Actions with Right Controller:

  • Picking is detected at the bottom inner edge of the controller and activated by pressing the trigger inside cube in the Model-in-Miniature (MiM) or the fiber model.
  • Multi-selection is made possible by holding one grip and then picking by triggering the right controller. To confirm the selection release the grip. Deselection by selecting the already selected cube again.
  • Pressing the trigger outside an object resets any highlighting.
  • Pressing the Application Button switches between similarity network and fiber model (only possible if MiM is present).
  • Picking two cubes (Multi-selection) in the similarity network opens the Histo-book through which the user can switch between the distributions by holding the right trigger - swiping left or right and releasing it.
  • The Trackpad changes (both only possible if MiM is present):
    • The octree level - pressing up switches to a higher / more detailed level, down to a lower/coarser level; any switch here also resets the fiber model (that is, it resets any potential displacement currently applied).
    • The currently analyzed feature - pressing right switches to the next feature, and left to the previous feature.

Actions with Left Controller:

  • Pressing the Application Button shows or hides the MiM.
  • Pressing the trigger changes the displacement mode.
  • The Trackpad changes:
    • The applied displacement (only possible if MiM is present) - pressing up shifts octree cubes away from center, down merges them together
    • The Jaccard index (only possible if similarity network is shown) - pressing right shows higher similarity, left shows lower similarity
  • By holding one grip and then pressing the trigger on the right controller the AR View can be turned on/off.

Actions using Both Controllers:

  • Pressing the grip button on both controllers zooms, translates or rotates the world. The zoom can be controlled by pulling controllers apart (zoom in) or together (zoom out). To translate the world both controllers pull in the same direction (grab and pull closer or away); similarly, for rotation, keep both controllers at the same distance, and rotate them (around a vertical axis).
