Welcome to the homepage of open_iA, a tool for the visual analysis and processing of volumetric datasets, with a focus on industrial datasets. It is developed and maintained by the Computed Tomography Research Group at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Campus Wels.
We provide pre-built binaries for Windows on our Release page; for Linux we provide a flatpak package.
The User Guide can get you started on the basic usage concepts.
See also the CONTRIBUTING.md in the repository. open_iA is intended as a framework for research prototypes and tools. In our Development section we have gathered information on how you can start writing your own extensions for usage from within open_iA.
We also highly welcome improvements to the core libraries, ideally in the form of pull requests (see the excellent github documentation on working with pull requests in case you have never worked with these).
The easiest way to set up a working build environment for open_iA is through our superbuild.
Alternatively, we provide instructions for manually setting up a build environment.
If you use open_iA in your research work, please cite this paper: B. Fröhler, J. Weissenböck, M. Schiwarth, J. Kastner, C. Heinzl, open_iA: A tool for processing and visual analysis of industrial computed tomography datasets, Journal of Open Source Software, 4 (35), 1185, 2019, doi: 10.21105/joss.01185.
If you use a specific tool included in open_iA, we would appreciate if you cite the according paper as mentioned in the Tools section.
The How to cite section of open_iA's README file also provides a .bib entry and information on how to cite specific versions of open_iA.
