The Sourcingbay DVR-EC010 HDMI Game Capture device is a cheap (roughly 60 USD) capture device that works in a simple way, capturing gameplay, BIOS, UEFI, et. all from an HDMI source.

Using the device

Using this device to capture video/audio is quite simple. The device employs simple HDMI-passthrough to record video by way of a small button and and attaching a USB drive.

1. HDMI in to device from your SteamOS machine

4. Press record button

Limitations

• You cannot control this devices from a remote machine (using ethernet, et. all)
• You cannot control this device using OBS studio, unless you use a DVI cable from your host PC to the device, which will not work for SteamOS BPM, as it cannot be remote controlled in such a way.
• Some portable USB hardrives (2.5 inch mechanical) may not work with this device, due to extra power being needed vs. a USB stick.
