Proposed Talks

Registries as Resources

  • Type: 5in5
  • Level: Intermediate
  • Description: Many concepts that are used in RESTful APIs have open and evolving sets of values (a simple example is a language tag, which is usually treated as something that conforms to the ISO-managed set of registered languages). This talk proposes that registries should become more common design patterns for RESTful APIs, because they clearly and cleanly separate the stable part of a design from an open and evolving part, which not only can be treated as a resource itself, but because of that also lends itself to simple reuse across services.
