Designing APIs That Meet the Needs of Citizen Developers

  • Type: 5in5
  • Level: All
  • Description: Citizen Developers are non-IT users who create business applications, and they're playing an increasingly important role in today's business enterprises. A recent survey found that 80% of today’s business enterprises are actively planning to implement citizen developer programs. In many cases, citizen developers are not only building their own apps, but they're also integrating them with other systems - and doing so with little or no help from IT. And it's the availability of APIs that is making this possible. In this talk, I'll explain why there is a rising number of citizen developers, why they are important to API designers and developers, and present some techniques that we can use to address their unique needs.
