I'm a Software Engineer at Clockwork Active Media, a digital/interactive agency based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Programming has been my passion since high school - I started using Linux in 1995, taught myself C, and found hacking on MUDs was way more fun than playing. I've been doing LAMP stack development for over 10 years. At Clockwork I'm involved in many different kinds of projects and in the past year I've worked on several REST APIs, including.
- A project tracking / data visualization application
- Token-based authentication to support mobile app integration with our custom CMS
- Third-party reward program integration with our CMS
I also helped get our local CoderDojo up and running this past year and have been managing the Python / Raspberry Pi group. We've been introducing kids from ages 10 - 17 to programming using various technologies (Scratch, Python-Raspberry Pi/Minecraft, Web-CodePen, Mobile-Unity, etc) We are using the pi edition of Minecraft, which comes with a Python API, to show the kids how they can use programming to manipulate/improve the game world that they know so well. It's really fun and incredibly inspiring to see them get excited when they've just written their name in huge letters using code! On Sept 14th we will be having our first fall Dojo event and are expecting around 130 kids which is the biggest CoderDojo event in the US!
This will be my first REST Fest and I'm very excited to come and learn from everyone!
