Configuring a temperature profile for reflow
Configuring a time/temperature profile manually is straightforward, but tedious. Select the profile, press F3 for "edit", and then set, for every 10-second interval, the desired temperature. F1 and F2 set the time; F3 and F4 set temperature. Holding down F3 or F4 moves the temperature setting rapidly.
The controller seems to be programmed to undershoot, rather than overshoot the temperature. So allow some dwell time at the peak reflow temperature; don't set a sharp peak. Otherwise, the temperature will never reach the specified reflow temp. 20 seconds of dwell time seems to work.
Temperature ramp-up speed is limited. 9 degrees C per 10 seconds seems to be a practical upper limit at the higher temperatures.
For repeatabilty, it's useful to run a cycle empty before soldering anything. This brings the oven parts up to a working temperature.
