Hi!

Me

thomas-AT-velthoven-DOT-no

I have been a programmer since I was 24 in 1986 and have been doing Internet stuff professionally and passionately since it became available to me in the 90's.

I have worked in factory automation, recruitment, newspaper publishing and finance.

I currently work at a tiny daughter company of the Oslo Stock Exchange and connected Clearing house called Oslo Market Solutions

At OMS I am mainly involved in providing web based real-time presentation of trading information. To be honest, I was a bit sceptical about the REST religion when I first met people who were passionate about it. I have since learned my lesson and live REST on a daily basis (even through websockets).

My heart lies in c programming but I have shifted to Java and Javascript as my primary professional platform.

I heard from Mogsie about RESTFest and I am coming because it seems like a great place to meet like minded people that have things to share that they are as passionate about as I am about my work stuff.

A "Five In Five" talk: Rest websockets

My last year has been mainly about combining REST with websockets in a meaningful way with the purpose of providing real-time trading data to browsers. I will prepare a short presentation on that subject. I am eager to hear what people think of our approach and how we could improve.

A "Five In Five" talk: I am in love with my Yubikey

It gives me: ssh keys, gpg keys, onetime passwords, building entry.

I love it!

gpg, ssh
