- Respect all: Please respect everyone and everything in the lab. This is a shared space, and should be pleasant, safe, and welcoming for all. Inappropriate conduct will mean loss of access at the very least.
- Share the space: Unfortunately there are a limited number of machines and tables, so we cannot assign tables/machines to individual lab members. Please be considerate and give way to anyone who has a scheduled event or is currently supervised/employed by the lab director.
- Food & drink: For now these are permitted, however drinks must always remain in fully closed containers. There are too many expensive electronics to risk spills. If a spill occurs we may have to ban food & drink. Also, all food trash must be removed immediately -- there's a limited degree of air circulation and smells can quickly accumulate.
- Carpet: Please, no footwear on the carpet. There is a tray to store dirty footwear.
- Illness: Please stay home. Even if you do come, consider others and do not use any wearable technology (especially VR headsets).
- Safety: Do not use the ladder unless you have completed the ladder training course: https://moodle.yorku.ca/moodle/course/view.php?id=164830
- Security: Please keep the door closed (locked) during after hours use of the lab. The campus is a public space and there have been incidients of criminal nature in the past. For more information on emergency situations: https://yorkinternational.yorku.ca/safety-on-campus/ https://safety.yorku.ca/erg/
- Canon projectors: all use the same Canon remote. It is better to stand where all three can be seen to turn them on. The HDMI cables to these projectors are currently coming down the wall near Clyde.
- Speakers, Vive beacons, other ceiling-mounted devices: use the remote controller hanging by the fire extinguisher near the main doors.
- Computer/network access: The pwd for all computers is the same. The wifi responds to whiterabbit.
- Take your trash with you -- there is a trash can right around the corner from the lab.
- Make sure that when you leave the main doors close with a click. Please do not swing them shut hard -- the lock sometimes freaks out that way.
- Make sure that the back door is properly locked (that is, in the angled position).
- Turn off any computers that have been left switched on (unless marked with a note not to).
- Turn off the ceiling grid (using the remote hanging next to the light switches), and
- Make sure that when you leave the main doors close with a click. Please do not swing them shut hard -- the lock sometimes freaks out that way.
