OTT, we found this looking at logs of what was happening when creating lures for newly created groups. Basically because our dep is the whole channel that was changing super frequently and marking read over and over. This prevents that, and should also maybe speed up channel loads in general.
Will do a follow up to address the fact that we are running the full init sync when creating a group...
