Welcome to the LightPath CDN wiki!

Take a look around and feel free to open an issue if you have any questions.

What is LightPath?

LightPath is a CDN, content delivery network, based on Nginx. The core functionality is written in Lua and integrates with Nginx via the Lua module. LightPath comes with a dashboard and API that allow you to easily manage your websites and edge servers.

LightPath allows you to easily operate your own CDN. It let's you easily configure edge caching rules and implement security features such as rate limiting, captcha, hot linking protection, edge rules, and more.

Personal Note

I started making LightPath in early 2020 hoping to make it into a company. I've been fascinated with the concept of CDNs ever since I started programming. However, the current CDN market is heavily dominated by major players and would require an enormous amount of funding to penetrate. So I made the decision to make LightPath and all its components open source. There are not many software like this that are open source. So I hope that by open sourcing this, it helps others learn how awesome and powerful Nginx can be!
