This is a GNU Octave adaptation of Richard Dewey's Mooring Design and Dynamics.
- The main database is called mdcodes.mat, which contains Buoyancy, Weight, Length, Width, Diameter, Drag Coef, Material. For the following categories: Hardware(Shackles, Sling Link, Miller, Drop Link, Chain), Floatation devices, Current meters, Releases, Misc Instruments and Mooring Lines. The user can then create custom moorings using the "Design New Mooring" or by supplying a mooring Excel file.
Creates a program recognizable mooring (.mat file) from an Excel file. Which can then be used in the mooring simulation.
More on Load Mooring From Excel
It works by comparing the names from the first column of the Excel file to the names that are in the database(mdcodes.mat). If an element in the Excel file is not in the database then you will be prompted to provide the information for that element, it will then be added to the database. (by default it will update mdcodes.mat)The input Excel file should be in the following format:

Import Database from Excel Creates a MAT file database from an Excel file. The Excel file should have the following format to be read properly:

The top row is not needed it is only for illustration purposes. But the values of Buoyancy, Weight, ... should correspond with the order in the Excel file.

Mooring Summary Gives an overview of the mooring. A temp file is created which can then be viewed, saved, printed, or discarded without using space on hard disk.
If you haven't already download the latest version of GNU Octave.
- Click on Code -> Download ZIP
git clone https://github.com/p-mackay/moordesign
Once you have Octave and the files installed. Open Octave then navigate to moordesign/main
then enter the
command moordesign
to run the program
cd moordesign/main
moordesign
