To note: The apk in the release is currently with proprietary binaries.
In the next days there should be a second variant with open source module only

The 'old' OFF app finally got updated in F-Droid to 3.9.0 and works now. The APK on the website available on https://world.openfoodfacts.org/open-food-facts-mobile-app and/or https://world.openfoodfacts.org/ on the bottom is still old and is pointing to 3.6.2 with the old app.

I proposed a PR to fix the link to APK.

But for F-droid I don't see the release https://f-droid.org/fr/packages/openfoodfacts.github.scrachx.openfood/ (should'nt it be 4.1.0 ?)

Depending on what you want. You have the 'old' app that will still be maintained and developed as far as i understood it. Meaning https://github.com/openfoodfacts/openfoodfacts-androidapp

The new official one is the smooth app with https://github.com/openfoodfacts/smooth-app and yes, it is 4.1.0 (and the f-droid build is broken ^^ ). And the new one should get a separate entry in f-droid as far as i understood -> See openfoodfacts/smooth-app#1882

Nice. That link is way better, now its possible to see what version you will download before trying to install it :) Thanks alexgarel!

  • Honestly, I did it, but it adds extra guessing and an extra click (you have to scroll down the release, and then there's 3 APKs vs 1 that used to download directly).
  • Also, it's now impossible to measure how many times the APK was downloaded, AFAIK

This issue has been open 90 days with no activity. Can you give it a little love by linking it to a parent issue, adding relevant labels and projets, creating a mockup if applicable, adding code pointers from https://github.com/openfoodfacts/openfoodfacts-server/blob/main/.github/labeler.yml, giving it a priority, editing the original issue to have a more comprehensive description… Thank you very much for your contribution to 🍊 Open Food Facts
