Documentation to install validator_initia

Hardware requirements

- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- CPU: 4 cores
- Disk: 1 TB SSD
- Bandwidth: 1 Gbps
- Linux amd64 arm64 (Ubuntu LTS release)

After register susccess:

Click Create -> Droplets to create VPS:

My VPS config:

• ubuntu version: 24.04
• ubuntu-s-4vcpu-16gb-amd-sfo3-01 ($84/mo Location: San Francisco)

Installation guide

1. Pre-Install

sudo apt install tmux git -y && tmux new -s initia

2. Install

curl -o install_initia.sh https://raw.githubusercontent.com/solotop999/validator_initia/main/install_initia.sh
chmod +x install_initia.sh

• Change 'YOUR_NODE_NAME' to your name:

./install_initia.sh YOUR_NODE_NAME

• Following script insctruction:

  • Backup your mnemonic and public key.

  • Go to: https://faucet.testnet.initia.xyz/ and claim faucet

  • Press Enter to continute...

    

  • Waiting to it sync full block. (few hours)

  • Block left must be 0 and it will auto run next step

    

• You can turn off terminal and check status later

  • check logs: journalctl -t initiad -f -o cat

  • Check Blocks left:

• Go to: https://scan.testnet.initia.xyz/initiation-1/validators
• Search your 'YOUR_NODE_NAME'

4. Move priv_validator_state.json back

mv $HOME/.initia/priv_validator_state.json.backup $HOME/.initia/data/priv_validator_state.json

5. Start the node

sudo systemctl restart initiad && sudo journalctl -u initiad -f -o cat

You should see the following logs. It may take up to 5 minutes for the snapshot to be discovered. If doesn't work, try downloading snapshot

After some time you should see the following logs. It make take 5 minutes for the node to catch up the rest of the blocks

6. Check the synchronization status

7. Disable state sync

Download fresh addrbook.json

1. Stop the node and use wget to download the file

2. Restart the node

sudo systemctl restart initiad && sudo journalctl -u initiad -f -o cat

3. Check the synchronization status

Add fresh persistent peers

1. Extract persistent_peers from our endpoint

Download Snapshot

1. Download latest snapshot from our endpoint

wget https://rpc-initia-testnet.trusted-point.com/latest_snapshot.tar.lz4 -O latest_snapshot.tar.lz4

2. Stop the node

sudo systemctl stop initiad

3. Backup priv_validator_state.json

cp $HOME/.initia/data/priv_validator_state.json $HOME/.initia/priv_validator_state.json.backup

4. Reset DB

initiad tendermint unsafe-reset-all --home $HOME/.initia --keep-addr-book

5. Extract files fromt the arvhive

lz4 -d -c ./latest_snapshot.tar.lz4 | tar -xf - -C $HOME/.initia

6. Move priv_validator_state.json back

mv $HOME/.initia/priv_validator_state.json.backup $HOME/.initia/data/priv_validator_state.json

7. Restart the node

sudo systemctl restart initiad && sudo journalctl -u initiad -f -o cat

8. Check the synchronization status

initiad status | jq -r .sync_info

Snapshot is being updated every 3 hours

Monitor server load

Restart the node

Stop the node

Delete the node from the server

# !!! IF YOU HAVE CREATED A VALIDATOR, MAKE SURE TO BACKUP `priv_validator_key.json` file located in $HOME/.initia/config/ 
sudo systemctl stop initiad
sudo systemctl disable initiad
sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/initiad.service
