Current plan after sad losses of David McKay and Ada Majorek
The dasher was originally created by a team lead by David J. C. MacKay
After a long time of mostly maintenance mode, Ada Majorek wanted to revitalize the project and led the work on the release of Dasher version 5.
Sadly both David J. C. MacKay and Ada Majorek have recently passed away.
I contacted the Ada's husband, Miro, and asked him if he could transfer the dasher's repository to me. He was also kind to provide the credentials for the site http://dasher.zone
I also contacted "GNOME Github masters" to ask about the future of dasher project and also asked if I could be added to the https://github.com/GNOME/dasher. Unfortunately, I was not able to reach anybody that could help me with this.
Therefore, I decided to continue with a plan like this:
- Make it easier for new developers to join the project by preparing developer guides
- Set up continuous integration
- Start adding unit tests
The goal of these is to attract new developers. Also, this way we could be ready for the events like hacktoberfest or Google Summer of Code to accept contributions.
If any current contributor or potential contributor wants to contact me, feel free to create a new issue to drop me a message.
