Release 2.4

Edition 2.4 (February 2023) introduces new animated videos to illustrate methods concepts in Chapter 1, as well as a Review Pack to aid in study and testing, available from the Download page. CaltechDATA record creation has been updated for the new version of CaltechDATA.

Release 2.3

This release adds minor updates to the video and text content of “The Atlas of Bacterial & Archaeal Cell Structure” site, including seven new scientist profiles.

Release 2.2

This release adds brand new features to the "The Atlas of Bacterial & Archaeal Cell Structure" site, as well as enhancing and refactoring existing features. These updates include changes such as:

• Add feature index generation from section/subsection metadata.
• Replace previous custom video player with videojs.
• Add keyboard panning to Phylogenetic Tree and Phylogenetic tree information in list form to the tree viewer page.

Release 2.1

This release adds brand new features to the "The Atlas of Bacterial & Archaeal Cell Structure" site, as well as enhancing existing features:

• Adds ability to search site content and navigate to resulting pages
• Add narration audio players to section/subsection text
• Updates download options to include a PDF version of the book
• Removes scrubbing from video players, as it was a problematic feature

Release 2.0

This release adds brand new features to the "The Atlas of Bacterial & Archaeal Cell Structure" site, as well as enhancing existing features:

• Adds a protein viewer to view most of the PDBs throughout the book
• Adds progress bar that can be toggled on/off during reading
• Adds interactive chapter summary menus at the end of each chapter
• Corrected many of the entries within the "Feature Index" section of the book
• Refactored underlying code for existing features
• Various bugfixes/improvements to the experience of existing features
• Updated offline versions to include all new features (except video scrubbing, video quality switching, and protein viewer)

Release 1.2

This release adds brand new features to the "The Atlas of Bacterial & Archaeal Cell Structure" site, as well as enhancing existing features:

• Adds image comparison sliders to accompany many of the videos on the site.
• Revamps the video player to allow for simple video scrubbing of played videos on Chrome. Also adds the ability to switch the quality of the streamed video from 1080p to 480p.
• Adds an interactive Phylogenetic tree that allows for zooming/panning of the tree. Pop up menus can be opened through the Phylogenetic tree to see links to relevant sections.
• Updated offline versions to include all new features (without video scrubbing and quality switching).

Introduction of new layout for mobile and offline downloadable zips

This release introduces a new layout for mobile device screen sizes and adds a download page where users can download the site's files in .zip form that can be used offline. There are two .zip files that cover 1080p videos (full version) or 480p videos (lite version).
