Welcome to the synthmodes wiki!

Deciding what goes into Synth Modes

Synth Modes is a pocket reference for eurorack synthesizer modules. It is intended to be used during synthesizer patching, as an alternative to looking up official manual PDFs or maintaining a dead tree binder of manual printouts.

The "cheat sheet" for a given module assumes the user has read the official manual, and understands the basics of eurorack synthesis. Therefore, a number of topics are out of scope and can be skipped: installation, power requirements, and underlying principles.

The best use of Synth Modes is for multi-function modules, where a generic user interface changes function depending on some mode selection. Some examples of good fits include the Expert Sleepers Disting. The goal of the Synth Modes documentation is to identify the function of the inputs, outputs, and knobs for the given module state, as well as have just enough general content to remind the user basic module navigation, like how to change modes.

Another good use of Synth Modes is to document hidden key combinations, for example Make Noise's PGM_A and PGM_B buttons and their various functions. This is information that is useful on the fly during a synthesizer patching session, hard to memorize, and annoying to have to look up in a PDF appendix.
