A list of popular Vietnamese offensive words that regarded as not suitable for communication.
We created this bad words list as the resource for our objectionable content filter mechanism. So, we decided to share this Vietnamese Offensive Words list to the community for everyone to use if you have the same needs like us ⛄. Hence, we're super welcome for open contribution from the community to enrich this list.

You may use this offensive words list as a resource for your scientific purpose. We strongly recommend you NOT to use these offensive words for communication in any form (verbal or written), as they are strongly against the communitity standard and tend directly insult other people.

The vn_offensive_words.txt contains a full list of offensive words.
Please use the file <text_file_other_format> if you need the array format.
The list will contains the original offensive word with Vienamese native accent, and its variants: without Vietnamese native accent, written in short form, writen in (teen)code.
Word are lowercased, and are classified into each associated groups.
When your implementation loop through the list, please setup your implementation to ignore the line starts with "#", as they are the comment lines

We are welcome every contribution to this Vietnamese Offensive Words list. Please open a Pull Request (insert link here), or submit an issue (insert link here) if you want to contribute a new, smelly offensive word to the list. The new word must be inserted in its corresponding group (if possible).
- Original Vietnamese word with native accent
- Word variant written in short form, or teencode
- For an already listed word, we might not accept word phrase that already contains it.
E.g: Already in listing "đụ má", we might not accept "đụ má mày" - Regular personal pronoun. E.g: "mày", "tao"
- Single word that is only offensive if used in certain context. E.g: "chó"
- Meaningful negative words does not emphasize insulting attitude. E.g: "dốt", "đần"
