Create Visualizations of Dinosaur Data

Background

We're looking for creative ways to visualize paleontological data. A fresh look at existing data can help us discover new ways of thinking about the science of dinosaur study. What can your perspective tell us about the past?

Solutions

  • Show impact of evolution on skeletal structure (for example, with CT scans, fossil skull morphs to modern skull)
  • Relationships between species (ancient and modern)
  • Another example - biogeography, show diversity of species as related to location but on an ancient map instead of a modern one (see Paleobiology for fossils found in U.S. - what if it was mapped to what the continents looked like during the Cretaceous?)
  • Diversity curves over time
