World Tour

In this game mode, the player runs in races that take place in various parts of the world. The player has a default initial game time that varies according to the difficulty mode (easy, normal and hard). There are three control points distributed more or less equidistantly along the course. Each time the player passes a checkpoint, the game time increases. If the time expires before reaching the goal, the player is disqualified. This game has been inspired in the Sega Megadrive version of Super Hang On (1989).

While running, the player must avoid lots of traffic vehicles and beat a total of 7 opponents running with him. In order to promote to the next level he must be in first position, otherwise he must repeat the race. This game mode has a total of 4 different looking scenarios representing iconic places in the world. These levels are as follows:

  • Sherwood Forest.
  • Egypt.
  • Vancouver.
  • Tokio.

The scoring system of this game mode is very simple. For each level and difficulty, the time of the fastest player in that level and that difficulty is saved. If the player is first, his time is compared with the current record. If it is a lower time, that player is asked for their credentials to replace the current record with their own. Otherwise, the player's time is discarded.

In parallel, the player can compete in this game mode in three possible ways, depending on the type of vehicle driven by the opponents. Based on this criterion, the player can select to play in the following sub-modalities:

  • Classic mode: in this sub-modality, rivals drive the type of vehicle typical of the original video game in which World Tour is inspired. Since it is based on the game Super Hang On, and in that video game the motorbike is the only playable vehicle, all the rivals drive motorbikes.

  • User mode: in this submodality, the cars driven by the competitors are the same type as the vehicle chosen by the player.

  • Random mode: in this mode the type of vehicle driven by the opponents is totally random, so the vehicles are of different types.

Here is a comparison between the World Tour game mode and the video game that inspired it, Super Hang On.
