Abstract: In two prior talks, we discussed a family of normal modal logics and proceeded to discuss an important proof technique for proving completeness (i.e. canonical models). In this talk we will discuss a related technique of filtration that can be used to prove decidability for a host of modal and intensional logics. Essentially, filtration is a technique that allows us to take a quotient of a Kripke model with a fixed set of sentences in mind that allows us to find a finite model for any satisfiable set of sentences. This finite model property is thus a critical part of standard decidability arguments. We will review the overall technique and show that it holds for several modal logics.
Abstract: We will survey mathematically formalized approaches to measuring the general intelligence level of arbitrary artificial agents. I will primarily be investigating and comparing three different classes of metrics: (1) The Universal Intelligence Measure and extensions/restrictions, in which an agent's intelligence is measured by its theoretical performance in all dynamic environments, (2) C-Test and task-based measurements in which a range of static tests and benchmarks are used to approximate intelligence, and (3) A UCI approach in which intelligence is measured via an agent's ability to reason in a hierarchy of intensional logics.
