this is a saltnerf, hardlight spears are trash for their TC cost as is.

For reference, hardlight spears cost 7tc per.
Their nukie variant costs 40tc

Both of these costs are fucking bonkers for something that had low AP by default (making it next-to-useless if you put on any form of armor), combined with the fact that the traitor version costs 16tc for just two spears, I can't see this nerf being justifiable at all. They're MEANT to be this strong. Thats their intent, high cost, high reward. And yet they're still terrible in every practical situation versus skilled opponents.

For 7tc you can buy a makarov + armor piercing ammo which does more damage on-hit versus security than the hardlight spears. For cheaper.

For 16tc you can buy holoparas or a double-esword.

For 40tc you might aswell buy a mech as nukies, or spend that 40tc on smth like romerol, or better guns.

tldr: Op has a skill issue and got owned when charging a traitor/nukie using these as an assistant
Just buy an esword or makarov w/ AP or literally any other item worth your TC, wait until hardlight spears are fully reworked.

A better suggestion for balancing would be the following:

-Drop damage to 28/hit
-keep auto-homing, set embed chance to only 35%
-set wound bonus to -50 (so it wounds way less)
-boost AP to 20%
-drop TC prices to 5tc per implant (traitor) and 25 tc (nukie)

this'd make them way more viable while keeping balance intact IMO

The problem is with this nerf is it does not fix the inherent problem of why these are so overpowered as stated before.

look at how embeds calculate 'pain' (passive) and 'jostle' (active) damage.

As mentioned in the discord they'll still do insane damage because you're still doing ~80 damage every few seconds.

Hardlight spears now have cooldown after firing before you can use another spear.

imo it'd be better if there was no cooldown as before, but accuracy is reduced with each successive throw if you don't take a second or so in-between them

would be weird and inconsistent. nobody would get why their spears are flying in the wrong direction. guns with different cooldowns already exist, guns with random inaccuracies when you don't fire for the right amount of time don't. also what constitutes a second in game time is dependent on lag, which really should not be tied to something like this in a way that isn't as obvious as the throw just not working.
