Molten Salt Reactors are a type of Gen IV reactor whose fuel can be pumped and replaced without needing to shutdown and get close to it (and in KSP: without needing the fancy functions of Near Future Electrical), and which is immune to meltdown events. It is set up as the ideal all-purpose nuclear reactor for these reasons.
Note
These devices run at 1300 K with System Heat.

Pebble Bed Reactors are a type of Gen IV reactor whose fuel can be pumped with some, but not total, ease. It is also a very high temperature reactor and is setup as the baseline capable heat source for thermal nozzle types of engines.
