Provisioning Aspera‐on‐Cloud Users

The Informatics Center of the Early Detection Research Network runs an Aspera-on-Cloud instance in order to facilitate uploading and download of large files and large collections of files in support of the EDRN Cancer Data Commons, or LabCAS.

The instance is located at https://edrn-labcas.ibmaspera.com/.

This document tells how to provision new users in this Aspera-on-Cloud instance.

Provisioning New Users

In order to provision a new user in our Aspera-on-Cloud instance, simply follow these steps:

1. Visit the instance with a web browser, by following this link, for example.
2. Click the blue "Log in with IBMid" button and log in as a user with "Admin" permissions.
3. Click the "App Switcher" in the upper-right corner (looks like a 3×3 matrix of dots) and choose "Admin".
4. On the left, click "Users", then "Management".
5. Click the blue "Create New +" button.
6. Type in the user's email address in the "Email" box; when the drop-down with that same email address appears, click it.
7. Click "Add group memberships".
8. Type "regular" in the box, and when the drop-down "Regular users" appears, click it. Then click the blue "Add" button.
9. Click "Create".

The user will then receive an email invitation to activate their account and join our Aspera-on-Cloud instance.

👉 Note: Do not check the boxes "Organization admin" or "ATS admin".

Provisioning Administrative Users

In order to give a new user admin powers, repeat the above steps, but before clicking "Create", check the box by "Organization admin".
