When the Advanced Search link is chosen, the user is taken to an page of the last version of DataONE web site that has a different design and colors. This can make the user feel be lost for a while.
Also, this page informs that there it is presented 1 to 25 of 822,078 datasets and the map on the right side is presenting lots of different numbers in squares. The user might have no idea of what is going on and why these numbers are there and what they represent.
Maybe it would be better to present a "blank" page and emphasize on how to select a dataset of how to perform a specific search

Agreed, it certainly is confusing to switch from the new website to the older-styled search.dataone.org! We are in the process of updating the DataONE search page to match the new website (see NCEAS/metacatui#1419 and #39). The plan is to update the search page at the same time that we launch the new website, so there will be a consistent style and navigation between the two websites from day one.

Your feedback about the advanced search help is now included in issue #92: Create a help link at home page

Thanks, Marcelo, these tasks look good! I have some feedback on a few of them, below. Perhaps @aebudden, @laurenwalker, and others might have ideas as well.

When do you plan to conduct this test? Some tasks will be difficult for users (e.g. task #10) until we update certain aspects of the website.

  1.   Send a message to the DataONE support team to ask for being a (free) Member Node;

Great! It might be easier to say "member repository" instead of "member node", since that's the term we'll use on the website

  1.   Inform how many Brazilian environmental data repository(ies) is(are) present in the DataONE environment;

This is an interesting challenge! I'm not sure we display the location of the repositories anywhere on the website (unless the country is included in the repository's name). Do you think this might be useful information for users?

  1.   Discover how to participate in a Webinar proposed by the DataONE community;

This test might be most useful to run in a period where a specific webinar is scheduled (otherwise, all you can do is sign up for the newsletter to find out about the next one - but maybe that would count as a success?)
