Can this plug-in be used to enable Bot control via homebridge under MacOS Mojave?

I installed the plug-in successfully via the Homebridge UI and the device appears in the Accessories list and in the Home app. But the device cannot be operated. The log says that the device (its MAC address) was not found. Is this because the Mac that Homebridge and the plug-in are installed on is running MacOS 10.14.6 (Mojave) and Xcode 10.3 and node 14.15.3 or could there be another cause?
