- Create > Shared Folder
- Name = Plex
- Description = Media Server
- Hide this shared folder = False
- Hide sub-folders = False
- Enable Recycle Bin = True
- Restrict to admins only = False
- Encrypt this shared folder = False
- Enable data checksum = False
- Enable shared folder quota = False
- User permissions - Check the Read/Write option for both the admin account and your current account.
- DSM > File Station
- Plex > Settings button
- Enable Smart Drag and Drop = True / Skp
- Save
Temporarily open port 32400 TCP on NAS firewall - changed later from Plex's advanced settings.
- DSM > Package Center
- Search for Plex
- Click the Join Beta button - a dialog opens. Accept the terms.
- Click Join Beta again - starts Install
- Shared Folder Path = /volume1/Plex
- Confirm settings + click Done
- DSM > Control Panel > Shared Folder
- Plex > Edit
- Permissions tab > change dropdown to System Internal User
- Check the Read/Write option for Plex
- Save
- DSM > Package Center > Plex > Open
- A new tab opens with an overview of Plex - click Got It
- An offer for Plex Pass opens - close out of it
- Server Setup
- Name = wcdPLEX
- Add Library = Follow prompts to select media types and folders
- Done
- The main UI loads. In the upper-right, either Sign In or Sign Up
- Expand the left panel > More > click into one of your media folders
- Follow prompts to claim server

- Left menu > Settings > Remote Access > Show Advanced
- Manually specify public port = True
