I recently watched a replay where my opponent typed -zoom 2000 and W3C set my actual zoom value to this value. Also this custom zoom level which was not mine got applied automatically for me in every new game. Typing zoom -1650 fixed this.
A better solution would perhaps be to use the local players custom zoom level in both replays and ingame, but to not apply custom zoom levels from replays.

It is likely still an issue. I'm not currently aware of how to recognize when the match being played is a replay, but will look into it when I get past some higher priority items

Firstly I didn't play a game/watch replays for a while and have no idea if this is still relevant. As you said, probably it is. As a workaround, what about reapplying the local users zoomlevel whenever there is a -zoom xxxx in chat? I don't currently know how the zoomstuff works so maybe (likely) this is not feasible. As an alternative, what about applying zoom settings only when the persons name in chat matches the local players name? Just wild guesses, probably not possible as well. Good luck.
