          Issue with VisIt on Ubuntu 24 Rendering Silo Files

Dear Support Team,

I am experiencing an issue where silo files appear as a black output ( when i added the plot and vlick draw it was black) when loaded in VisIt on Ubuntu 24. I suspect this may be due to compatibility between my current version of VisIt and Ubuntu 24 or a potential issue with the silo files themselves. Could you please advise on resolving this issue or recommend any updates or patches that address this?

@Olami1993 to debug whether it has to do anything with Silo, can you maybe try reading a different file type there like maybe VTK, csv or Blueprint. Can glxgears run there ok?

If you take the following steps...

1. Run visit -nowin (you will not see a viewer window)
2. Open a file and plot something (be sure you hit draw and you see the plot list objects all turn green).
3. Go to File->Save Window (take note of the file name and location)
4. Display the resulting file

If the above steps indeed to wind up rendering the data correctly, its likely an issue with the GL configuration there. Can you try running VisIt in an env. where these variables, LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE, LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT are set to one and see if that makes any difference.
