How to add a Search-Field to a (Custom) Field?

I wonder if there's a way on how to enable the Search Field for a JCB Field.

I checked out a custom as well as a list field and saw that the html code for this search is there:

However, it's disabled for some reason and I wonder how to activate it.

I found the answer: Joomla activates the autocomplete as soon as there're 10 entries to select. >.<
