When inserting a usb stick, the new explorer window opens as expected, but the existing window changes to Desktp with This PC selected #4094

Before reporting your issue

  • I have confirmed that this issue does not happen when ExplorerPatcher is not installed
  • I do not have "register as shell extension" enabled
  • I have tried my best to check existing issues

Repro ExplorerPatcher versions

22621.4317.67.1

Repro Windows Versions

Windows 11, OS Build 22631.4602

3rd party tweak software installed

none

Describe the bug

When inserting a usb stick, the new explorer window opens as expected, but the existing window changes to Desktp with This PC selected

Expected outcome

The new window opens with in the root of the usb stick and existing explorer windows are unaffected

Actual outcome

existing window changes to Desktop with This PC selected

does this happen if you uninstall EP?

It didn't happen before I installed ep, but I'll try over the weekend

Hi! This is a known Windows 11 bug that many users encounter and, as far as I know, it isn't related to ExplorerPatcher.

There are numerous complaints about this issue online. The only solution I’m aware of is detailed here:
