CPTUI core #3
Comments
It's intentionally left separate, with no plans to merge in. I probably do need to review/re-test and polish it up a bit, but can't promise a timeline at the moment. Thank you for the feedback. |
What's the reason for leaving it separate? It seems like this would be given a little more attention & updates over time (UI refinements, helping ensure functionality, etc.) if it wasn't kept separate and seemingly only offered via GitHub like this currently is. It would also help people find that something like this is possible via CPT UI rather than thinking they need to go elsewhere. Meanwhile, I'm then not really sure what harm there would be in adding this as a feature of the main plugin given how lightweight this appears to be (present a UI that then utilizes what's provided by WP itself to fill in this gap of what's possible when setting up a custom post type.) Also, why is this not on the WordPress.org plugin directory? It's a rather useful thing for those that need it while it's then made more difficult to find by only being on GitHub (I only found this via the Help/Support page of CPT UI... Google, WP.org, & elsewhere have it like this practically doesn't exist when it could/should be in the main place people check to find plugins to avoid this.) It would also help make sure that future updates to the plugin are pushed out to sites. Then again, this aspect of things can be avoided if this were to just be included in the main plugin, if that decision's been reconsidered. |
WebDevStudios/custom-post-type-ui#390 (comment) May be able to get reconsidered, especially since it's been awhile, but at least at the moment, that was the official decision at the time. I also know there's filters in place for a code version of everything, but that obviously takes some code savvy-ness. |
@tw2113 Thanks for the super speedy response! I'm using this add-on plugin in the meantime as it is nicer than needing to turn to code (or relying on a totally different plugin) for this particular project. I've also commented with further details on the other topic (though I'm not sure if that should be re-opened, have a new issue be created to bring this back up for consideration, etc.) |
I would like to know if this plugin is fused with the core and if not, I don't know how to fuse it with the plugin.
Could you update the readme to make it more understandable?
Thanks
