Describe the bug
When the link to the cover is wrong, an invalid page message appears when trying to access the book's metadata page via the catalogue.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to catalogue
  2. Click on Publisher: Editorial FLACSO Ecuador
  3. Access the book "Una inmersión en la industria del reciclaje: el trabajo de las minadoras en Quito"
  4. See error

Expected behavior
I was expecting to see the book's metadata page without the cover.

We've also had this issue with cover URLS pointing to a login-walled area of a publisher website.

One option to consider might be to include a timeout routine that defaults to Thoth placeholder image if an URL is inaccessible after X seconds.
