We started using Ava.js because I encountered issues using OrientJS promises in Mocha's before hooks as described in this issue.

Currently we run our tests in series as we would in Mocha because running them in parallel takes extra care since all tests write to the same database. This means running all the tests can take quite long and it can be avoided since Ava is specifically designed for running tests in parallel.
