I earlier reported this here, and the pointed me to the upstream, but I didn't pursue it further since they also mentioned the project has been inactive recently. That was just temporary, apparently, I'll echo the issue here:

mame4all-pi is using almost 100% CPU on a Raspberry Pi Zero when paused.

This is particularly relevant given that this fork is based on MAME 0.37b5 which doesn't support save/load states: if you're taking a break (or call it a day) to come back later on, the only option is to pause the game, keeping the Pi unnecessarily hot and busy.
