Suggestion menu not showing up #754

Dear React-mentions team,

I am encountering an issue where the mentions popup does not open under the following conditions:

  1. Select text with the mouse and then move outside of the input field.
  2. The input remains focused, but when I type @, the suggestions menu does not appear.
  3. As soon as I click input the suggestion menu appears. But all this time as I mentioned input is focused.

I tried this on both Chrome and Edge browsers; they both behave the same way.

Checked out online demos as well all behave same way.

Expected behavior:

The suggestions menu should appear when I type @.

Does not work for React 17 and higher
