PrimeHack needs Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2019 x64 to be installed.

PrimeHack Updater

The PrimeHack Updater downloads PrimeHack automatically, and keeps it updated. You can use the updater as a launcher to go directly into the game or to just start Dolphin.

To use the updater, place PrimeHack.Updater.exe into a folder and run it.

UpdaterPage

Using the Updater as a launcher (Optional)

You can set the launcher to boot directly into your game by setting a QuickLaunch path. You are given three options.

  • Yes will make the Updater boot directly into your selected ISO
  • Never will only start Dolphin and will not ask again.
  • Ask Later will show this screen the next time you start the Updater.

The Run Game Immersively option will open the game like a native PC game, with the Dolphin window hidden. This is strongly recommended alongside borderless fullscreen, which can be set in the Graphics window inside PrimeHack.

The Portable Mode option will automatically create a portable.txt file which triggers PrimeHack to isolate it's settings and saves inside your install folder under a new User folder. Be careful not to use this option in a UAC folder such as Program Files as it will be unable to save without administrator permissions.

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file..

Blocked

This is because Windows has decided to block the PrimeHack Updater because you downloaded it from the internet.

You must right click PrimeHack.Updater.exe, go to Properties, and select Unblock, at the bottom of the screen. The same problem may occur for Dolphin.exe.

Downloading Manually

You do not need to use the Updater, you can simply download PrimeHack directly and extract it into an empty folder.

Ishiiruka (Optional)

If you haven't heard of Ishiiruka, there's a very strong chance you should be using the regular build. Ishiiruka is useful to some but based on a much older build of Dolphin. Click here for more information on PrimeHack-Ishiiruka and setting the updater to download it instead..

Adding your dump

If you haven't setup Dolphin before, you'll see a grey screen asking you to set a game directory. You can double click this window and select the folder containing your dump of Metroid Prime 1-3/Trilogy. Alternatively you can navigate to Config > Paths and select Add...

Changing PrimeHack Settings

You can change your PrimeHack controls and camera options by going to Controllers > Wii Remote 1 Metroid Configure > PrimeHack

PrimeHackTab

Beams and Visors

By default in order to select beams or visors, you must press an associated bind or use the Next/Previous binds to scroll through them. You can also re-enable the visor or beam menus and use the cursor to select your beam or visor. These controls can be used in combination, an example setup would be to set beams to 1-4 and scroll wheel, and select visors by holding E and using the cursor.

By default, you select Scan Visor by pressing E + 1, the same way you do Ctrl + C to copy. To select Power Beam, you simply press 1.

PrimeHack Defaults (Important)

PrimeHack has defaults designed to play all three Metroid games. This includes controls to change beams and visors, and motion controls in Prime 3. We highly recommend you use our defaults as a base profile when making a new one.

See the default controls guide (to be completed)

We highly recommend you press this button to ensure these defaults are selected.
