AMD CPU Undervolting

Hello fellow community,

Since last few versions app has option to undervolt AMD CPUs. Currently UI will show CPU / iGPU undervolt sliders (under Fans + Power -> Advanced) for all AMD models. But from my knowledge only Ryzen 9 seem to support it, while Ryzen 5 or 7 don't seem to support it at all, and I want to hide this from UI for them.

In new versions I have removed Undervolting sliders for CPUs that don't support it. If you still want to "test" and make sure if it works or not for you you can get https://github.com/seerge/g-helper/releases/tag/v0.95 where slider is visible for all devices.

I have 4600HS too (GA401IH) and undervolting seems to work fine only for CPU. The iGPU is giving this error - CMD_REJECTED_PREREQ.

CO should work on the Z1, at least you can set CO on UXTU Handheld (but you also get a handle leak) and get drastically reduced temperatures.

I can try that with G-Helper, but I can already confirm I got ~12k in CB R23 Multi Core using UXTU (TDP limit at 40W, settles around 35-38 with temp limit at 95C) and this usually gets around 10500 stock.

And what do you get w/o undervolting ? :) what is the baseline (you need to apply 0 UV in UXTU as far as I remember in order to "reset" it)

Sorry, I already edited that in. You're right, the Z1 seems to have quite a range. I ran without UXTU for a while since it caused memory leaks (more specifically, process handle leaks, so they're in the kernel too).

Hi, I got no undervolting setting for TUF A15 R9 7940HS

All of us tryed unsuccesfully to undervolt, or underclocking cpu , specially for laptop for solve freeze , or blue death screen . Unsuccesfully ? right ? all of us tryed to clean cpu and gpu fun and apply newer thermal paste, with only 5°C less and nothing solved. Probably we did it not so well, but, i'm sure 9 / 10 of us not succesfully.
I tryed another solution , and it worked.
Windows, Control Panel , Energy Option , Modify energy combination ( before the best with energy connected, after the battery) , change advanced , Cpu energy saving, then , change maximum CPU level, try 50% first. if you launch app like speecy or hw monitor, you will see temperature will be under 70°. Unfortunaly you will have a pc with half performance , BUT WORKING . Not to put into waste.
I Hope i helped better then other solutions .

i think there seem to be typo here Asus rog advantage edition have AMD Ryzen™ 9 5900HX not Ryzen 9 5980HX, also in case the undervolt cause instability or system crashes how will i be able to reset the voltage value will holding power button for 30 sec work ?

yes you can try my settings although i won't recommended -20 undervolt cos it's not stable for me now so i am using -15 and limited cpu temp to 80°C.

About the Gpu undervolting and temp limit sadly that is not supported for G513QM i don't know if your G713QM support it but if you are talking about limiting core clock offset yes i do that you see (I live in a place where the climate is hot like 35°C outside lol )
my gpu starts throttling when it boost past 1900mhz-115 watt-86°c so i decided to limit the core clock offset to 1850mhz on turbo so now gpu only uses max 100 watts average with temps hitting max 82°c on average.

i will drop my settings for you but a word of advice my gpu settings may not gonna help reduse the temps you are currently experiencing so you should play with core clock offset although i wouldn't recommended going below 1750mhz in turbo cos it's the base clock speed of rtx 3060 mobile. This settings gonna reduce performance by a little but it won't full time cook and throttle the laptop while gaming :)

I've been avoiding spoilers for years to play this game, and finally got Ghost of Tsushima! While playing, I noticed my CPU temperatures were hitting a scary 96-98°C, and my GPU was at 84-88°C (sometimes even 92°C). This worried me because I've never seen my system get that hot. Whenever the temps go above 88°C, the game throttles down, dropping the frame rate from a smooth 48-60 FPS (at 1080p with Very High settings, DLSS off, and FG off) all the way down to a choppy 23-32 FPS.

What are your thoughts on this?

By the way:

• Are you still using Armoury Crate? (I mean the "Extra" option in GHelper) let you to disable all the Asus utility settings? Would you recommend keeping this on while using Armoury Crate, or should I just uninstall it completely?
• My temperature and fan graphs seem a little different from yours. Should I just copy your settings anyway?

I am also going to play Ghost of tsushima but to get a better experience i think i will wait till it get some update patches to fix its bugs :)

Brother what i understand from the details you given, your laptop really need a thermal paste replacement(watch some youtube videos of the thermal replacement of your model or similar rog laptop or give it to an expert to do it for you but fair warning it's a really delicate job and you need to be gentle and extremely cautious if you are repasting yourself) ,  there is no way your gpu can go past above 87°C cos all nvidia 30 series laptop gpu throttles and try to reduce temps from 87°C , i don't know what's going on with your temps on the GPU side! also look out for gpu hotspot temp cos that's the main temp you should be worrying about , From the information i gathered from internet Gpu core/die temp vs Gpu Hotspot temp should be under 25° difference ( basically Hotspot temp is the highest temp recorded in a point inside the gpu) use hwinfo app and play game to notice it.

About your cpu hitting 96-98°C that's also not normal although the max throttle temp or the safe temp AMD listed for Ryzen 9 5900Hx is 105°C
again why this causing? because again i think the liquid metal thermal paste inside your laptop must been dried out or liquid metal is only filling one side of gap between the heatpipe and cpu die.

6 months ago i myself repasted my laptop with liquid metal on cpu(should have gone with ptm7950 pads but it's too costly for me) and coolermaster cryofuse violet thermal paste on gpu and as for the vram and other components comes under the heatpipe i used 0.5mm thermal pads, after that i clean installed windows 11 via usb and started using GHELPER with all asus services stopped and yes the results are amazing my system response increased and no more armoury crate using cpu resources unnecessarily anymore and no over heating. also it's really important to use your laptop in a plain dust free desk with it's back raised or just use a good laptop stand or cooling pad.

No i am not using armoury trash anymore (uninstalled)
just uninstall it using armoury crate uninstaller or use revo uninstaller(great app btw) to uninstall armoury trash and bloat apps comes with windows that cannot be uninstalled normally also uninstall Myasus app and SWITCH to GHELPER BRO
dissabled unnecessary startup apps from waking up while turns on with the system boot (you can find that in task manager)

why your fan graph different is because your laptop is larger so it should have more space inside for cooling so manufacturer must have adjusted the fan speed accordingly xd

Yes, I'm aware of the difference, I was testing, my laptop is accepting the undervolting but not the power limits as you can see in the screenshot above I have set the power limits to 50w
