Hi there!

We'd like to be able to categorize inventory and then have reporting back on how it moves through the system.

Specifically, we want to be able to categorize distributions, donations, and purchases. We have three programs we operate (diapers, period supplies, adult incontinence supplies) and many other orgs have similar distinctions or categories. For accounting and other tracking purposes we have to be able to break down distributions, donations, and purchases by program and it would save us a ton of time and duplicate efforts if DiaperBase could facilitate this functionality.

Since people have different names and categories, if they weren't pre-assigned or filled in and each program could create their own, that would be best!

Kara would be happy to talk to someone more about the need for this, how it might work, etc: [email protected].

Thanks so much!
Megan

Hi there! Following up on this to say that if these different program buckets were available to be dashboard items that would be even better. So on our dashboard we could see all info for each program at a glance (everything going in and out for each one). This would be a HUGE time-saver for us when working with our accountants each month as they create reports for our board of directors. Happy to answer any questions if this gets going!

@SCDB -- to clarify is the ideal outcome to be able to filter by the partner groups being created in #2059 ?

@edwinthinks as long as what's being created is something like "item groups" and NOT "partner groups", yes. And I think that's the direction it's headed based on the comments ("partner groups" would be something different in the future). Being able to filter by item groups would be huge (distributions, purchases, donations).

@SCDB that makes sense. Thanks for the added context. I"ll work on breaking down the technical requirements and open an issue related to this one.

Hi there! Wanted to check in on this. We're considering creating separate Human Essentials profiles for each of our programs, which means our partners would have to go into three different places to put in orders if they're getting products from each program. It would be a giant pain but we're running into lots of reporting challenges with not being able to categorize things in the app and aren't sure what else to do. We're entering things into the app but then have to record things separately for our accountants instead of being able to pull one report that's categorized/sorted from the system. Let me know if we should go ahead and pursue the different accounts or if this feature will be seriously considered/implemented soon. Thanks so much! @edwinthinks

@SCDB sorry for the very late reply. We are working on enabling banks to define their own categories of items and be able to create reports against those. Hopefully we'll have something available soon. I belive it is next on priority for me so maybe within a months time or sooner possibly.

Good morning @edwinthinks just checking in on this. We're going to start adding quotas to our partner agencies and realized that partners have a different quota for each program they have with us. For example for period supplies we are sending out kits and they order by the number of kits (which contain multiple products within them), and diapers they are ordering by each individual diaper needed (not total bundle numbers etc). And the limits for each of those programs is vastly different. Made me remember to come back and check on the categorization by program issue, as well as check in and see if we might be able to attach a quota to each program once that separation is possible. Thank you!
