Markdown formatting of shortname

Can't really figure out how I can format the shortname. I would like to include a subscript, e.g. as follows:

acronyms:
  keys:
    - shortname: x~y~
      longname: x with y subscripted

I've tried to wrap the shortname in single quotes and backticks, but this did not help.

Hi,

There is currently no way to use Markdown in acronyms (except in custom List of Acronyms format, but that would not solve your problem).
It's already a feature on my todo list, but not implemented yet. I will get back to you when it's done; a basic version should not be very difficult, but I need to make sure that it does not break anything.
