ZapZap 6.0: Volunteer Testers Needed! 🚀

Version 6.0 of ZapZap (WhatsApp Messenger for Linux) is on its way and represents a complete revolution in the app.
Remodeled and with the code entirely rewritten from scratch, the new ZapZap brings simpler solutions, significant performance improvements, and a series of optimizations to transform your experience.

Now, I need your help! I’m recruiting volunteers to test this development version and help ensure it meets your expectations and needs before the official release.

Why participate?

  • Early access to the new ZapZap version.
  • Influence the app's future: your suggestions and feedback will be key to final adjustments.
  • Unique experience: be part of a community shaping the app.

How to install the test version

  1. Add the flathub-beta repository:
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub-beta https://flathub.org/beta-repo/flathub-beta.flatpakrepo
  1. Install ZapZap from flathub-beta:
flatpak install flathub-beta com.rtosta.zapzap

What I expect from you

  • Focus on functional testing: while ZapZap 6.0 is already functional, the visual interface still has some inconsistencies. We want to ensure all features are solid and bug-free.
  • UI suggestions are welcome: your ideas for interface improvements will be considered for future updates.
  • Important: use the prefix [6.0] in your issue title to make organization and reading easier.

On the "flathub-beta repository" link I think there is a wrong character at the end (without quotes): " `"

Im tesintg it..

here are my initial thoughts:

  1. i dont like the bar at the top 'file Vew...'

Sugestion:
it could be a option to hide it, since it can be useful. maybe a short, or use the lateral bar.

  1. the option to hide the lateral bar if you only use one account is missing

we could have a keyboard shortcut to temporaly show the lateral toolbar, and it will hide itself after a while.

  1. when you close the screen, you cannot just simple click the zapzap indicator (in linux mint) and the window wont open. you have to right click and click 'show' to make the screen reapears.

Suggestion: regress to 5.x behavier of just clicking the indicator to make it reapear.

  1. We still cannot copy a image from a browser window and paste it on zapzap. dont know if something can be done about this.

The hiding option is in the settings.

we could have a keyboard shortcut to temporaly show the lateral toolbar, and it will hide itself after a while.

Now it will be hidden regardless of how many accounts there are. The idea of a timer is interesting, I will think of the case.

Yes, it missed implementing this!

I will check if it is something from Wayland
