bug: gutter icon does not display

I have not been able to figure this out. PRs welcome.

I was getting two icons for a while, one of the comment line, one on the line immediately below that the comment pointed to. Now, I don't get any gutter icons. I had the original Line Note installed, but not enabled. So, I played around with installing and uninstalling these two plug ins to ensure that there was no overlap. Uninstalling Line Note Plus did not remove the Line Note Plus folder, so I manually deleted it. Now, I don't see any gutter icons in Line Note Plus. Probably not related. But on my other PC I still get two gutter icons with Line Note uninstalled.

Is there an alternate extension like LNP hat works? I tried SideNote and that doesn't work at all for me.
