Creating Plone site fails with AttributeError: adapters #55

I am attempting to setup an instance of Plone intranet. When I add a new site, I get an AttributeError: adapters. The traceback is below.

I am folowing instructions for this project from: https://github.com/bikalabs/bika.lims/wiki/Bika-LIMS-Installation

AttributeError: adapters

I'm using Ubuntu 16.04.2 server on Oracle Virtualbox. This is my first attempt at Plone, so all help is appreciated.
