Consider global control for sound level (in addition to mute)

A note from the (School) kids while playing with JT: For remote classroom settings, it'd be really nice to be able to turn down the sim volume without turning down the rest computer volume (e.g., Zoom) so they can hear eachother/teacher while playing with the sim.
I know in Windows you can selectively turn down applicaiton via the Mixer, not sure baout mac/chromeOS

Sometimes those little speaker icons pop up a small master sound volume slider, as well as allowing mute

If this isn't something that's already in the preferences dialog, perhaps we should consider it. Is it?

Or it could alternatively be a pop-up on the central sound on/off - that is what I have seen a lot of in programs.
