Importing Gazetteers
In order to use geo-annotation functionality, you need to import one or more gazetteers. Recogito supports upload of data files conforming to the Pelagios Gazetteer Interconnection Format. At the moment, the following gazetteers are available in this format :

Digital Atlas of the Roman Empire. An up-to-date data file is maintained at http://dare.ht.lu.se/export_pelagios3.ttl.gz (For convenience, you can also find a snapshot of this file from February 2018 in the
/gazetteers
folder of this repository.) -
Vici.org. An up-to-date data file is maintained at http://vici.org/vici/all/rdf.

China Historical GIS. A zipped file is available at http://github.com/vajlex/tgaz/tree/master/data/rdf. Unzip this file before uploading to Recogito.

- You can import this gazetteer to Recogito on the Gazetteer Administration page at http://localhost:9000/admin/gazetteers. Note that you need to be logged in with a user that has administrator privileges (e.g. the default 'recogito').
- WARNING the admin pages are work in progress. Don't expect any fancy functionality or styling there yet! Importing gazetteers can take a while, and there is no progress display yet. Bear with us. You can track progress through Recogito's JSON Place API at http://localhost:9000/api/place/search?q=*&pretty=true
- It's not possible to upload controlled vocabularies for persons, periods or events yet.
