After some testing to confirm everything sounds well, I decided to share my music mod for Red Eclipse. While the original tracks are nice in their own way, I wanted something more varied that sounds more like 90's shooters such as Unreal Tournament or Quake. I thus searched for the most fitting tracks on OpenGameArt and compiled an unique soundtrack! The mod overrides each of the 12 songs with an appropriate counterpart as well as the main menu / endgame track.
Instructions: Just download the zip then extract it in your config directory. For Linux the result would be
/home/username/.redeclipse/version/sounds/*
, no idea what the path is on Windows as I no longer use that. Normally simply placing the zip in that directory should work, but there seems to be an engine bug causing ogg files in archives to be seen as corrupted and not play, till that's solved you'll have to extract it. Note that volume is lower due to the structure of the songs as I can't amplify them all without clipping, you'll probably want to bump the music volume to 50% with this.
