Is there a reason b, i, small, etc. are stripped by the sanitizer?

There's a couple of tags useful for styling that are stripped:

b
i
small
u
mark

(For context, I'm working on a feed generator and I've found that I can't use these tags in the output.)

Some of these tags could be added to the sanitizer allow list.

However, I'm under the impression that <strong> should be used instead of <b>, and <i> should be replaced with <em>.
