For the installed system, I think we don't want a password for root, but we also don't want it to be possible to log in as root, only to become root using su. So I think this is how it is now, and as such it works as intended? Or am I wrong?

This may not have been achieved entirely for the root users and in all circumstances yet. So any suggestions for improving this for root and non-root users are welcome.

Configuring helloSystem for freebsd-update(8) to not use vi(1) is a struggle, with root login disabled.

Whilst freebsd-update(8): prevent vi, prefer ee : freebsd is notionally answered:

• the struggle to identify relevant files, and the best variable for use within those files, continues, in the context of sudo(8).
