What to do after installing

I just installed ovos with the ovos installer package

After the script ended it shows a summary of the things it has done:

How should I proceed now? Is there any doc with the next steps? I see a few docker machines running on my system but I don't see any way to trigger any action on ovos and see it's reply.

Welcome! Once the installer is done, you can say "Hey Mycroft" to activate the listener. Ask it something simple like "what time is it?" It should respond appropriately.

hi @mikejgray is there something like a log file where I can monitor if everything is working as expected? Some questions I am not sure:

• This ovos pick the proper audio stream?
• Is it listening anything?
• Did it recognize the keywords?
• Can I prompt via keyboard entry instead of voice (to test)?

Hi @aseques , your best bet for the first three questions is to check the logs, which exist at ~/.local/state/*.log in most installations.

OVOS picking the proper audio stream isn't in the logs, usually, but by using OVOS you'll figure out pretty quickly if it got the right ones or not.

The default wake word is "Hey Mycroft," so as long as your audio volume is up you should hear a confirmation sound. You can watch the logs to see what it transcribes and which skills pick up that utterance (or none of them).

You can prompt via keyboard entry: ovos-say-to "what time is it?" is an example. Be sure to wrap your utterance/prompt in double quotes.

hi @mikejgray unfortunately on the docker version that I'm currently using the folder ~/.local/state/ folder doesn't have anything related to ovos. And altough I say the wake word I see no reaction on the ovos_listener logs (see attached)

The ovos-say-to command is great, and the content is played on the speaker. I have to run it through docker too
