When I run brew upgrade I get the message

Error: Cask 'mysqlworkbench' definition is invalid: Token '{:v1=>"mysqlworkbench"}' in header line does not match the file name.

I haven't had mysqlworkbench on my computer for a long time, and this is the first time I've ever seen this message. I can't think what can have changed. The only thing of significance I can think of is that homebrew upgraded me from python 3.8 to python 3.9 today, and that kicked off some dependency checks.

When I ls -l /usr/local/Cellar, mysqlworkbench is not shown. I have tried brew cleanup, brew uninstall --force mysqlworkbench, and brew uninstall --force 'mysqlworkbench' but I always get the same error when I run brew upgrade. I have considered reinstalling mysqlworkbench and then uninstalling it, but I'm afraid it might just make things worse, since I don't understand what's going on.

Try brew uninstall --zap mysqlworkbench. Note the caveat:

--zap  Remove all files associated with a cask. May remove files which are shared between applications.

rm -rf $(brew --prefix)/Caskroom/mysqlworkbench worked. This formula was supplied to me here by Vítor Galvão
